Program Of Events For Alumni Day Announced A very busy day for returning alumni will be May 29; the activities will be many and varied. Registration begins at 11:30 on the campus grounds in front of Founders Hall. At 12:30 the reunion luncheon will be held in the dining hall of Founders Hall with Elton Warrick, president of the Guilford College Alumni Association, presiding. An alumni tea honoring Miss Katherine Ricks will be held in Virginia Ragsdale Alumni House at 3:30. This tea is open to all students and faculty. The night cap will be the alumni banquet which will be held in the gymnasium at 6:30. Members of the graduating class of '54 and their husbands or wives will be guests for the evening. The in duction of these seniors into the association will be a traditional candlelight service, written by Dr. Russell Pope while he was a member of the Guilford faculty. Parents of the seniors are cordially invited; but like the Alumni, will be requested to pay. Special attention is called to the fact that the Open Meeting of the Scholarship Society is being held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 instead of Saturday as in years past. This was changed to enable more parents to attend. Marshals for 1954-55 Elected At its regular April meeting, the Faculty elected the eight marshals for the school year 1954-1955. The newly elected marshals are: Carol Smith, chief marshal; Margaret Anne White, Lura Jane Carroll, Betty Busiek, Edwin Brown, Larry Bumgarner, Donald Osborne, and Ralph Edwards. LECTURE SYSTEM: A process by which words are mysteriously transferred from lecture notes of the professor to the notebook of the student without passing through the minds of either. Graduation Exercises 10:30—May 31 Junior - Senior Banquet Tremendous Success Saturday, May 8, the members of the Senior Class were guests of the Junior Class at a banquet and dance held in the gymnasium. The theme was "A Night in Paris," and through the ingenuity of the deco rating committee, a setting was devised resembling a sidewalk in Paris. After entering, one wander ed among the tables of an outdoor cafe set on a picturesque street of the famed city. The scene was complete with an art gallery, dress and hat shops, salons, and a news stand. Glowing street lamps and trees added to the atmosphere of color and romance. The menu continued the theme with a delightful French meal beginning with Pomme D'Amour Jus (tomato juice) and ending with Fraise Court-gateau (Strawberry Short Cake.) Centerpieces were replicas of the Eiffel Tower. Marty Burton gave the welcome to the guests; Ray Chalkley, the toast to the Seniors, with Jim Lomax responding; and Dr. Milner, the invocation. Entertainment was provided throughout the meal by Reva Watson, who sang "April in Paris" and "I Love Paris." The program was concluded with Dr. Kent, as speaker of the evening. After the meal, music was pro vided for dancing which continued until eleven o'clock. Senior Class Night Program Complete The Senior Class of Guilford College will give its class night program Tuesday, May 18, at 8:00 p. m., in Memorial Hall. The program this year will be in the form of a musical skit called "It Can't Happen Here." The Seniors of the class will participate and serve in the cast of the humorous skit. This year's skit is planned to be unlike anything ever given at Guilford College, as many new production features will be planned in the show. Four members of the Senior Class are in charge of the evening's entertainment: Barbara Anson, Josh Crane, Ruth Burton, and Leslie Warrick. They are to be assisted by the entire class. As this is the second annual evening senior skit night, it is hoped that a large number of students and friends will turn out for the event planned as a final toast to the students and faculty of Guilford College.
